Feb. 2024 - The group had three great and interesting days at SupraChem 2024 in Ulm with poster contributions from Jessica, Yuqi, Christian and Marius.

Jan. 2024 - The DAAD has approved funding for our proposal with Assoc.-Prof. Dr. Rie Wakabayashi at Kyushu University within the Project-related Personal exchange Programme (PPP) framework of the DAAD.

 

Oct. 2023 - The group welcomes Ayato Higuchi from the Goto, Kamiya and Wakabayashi lab at Kyushu University in Japan. Ayato joins us for six months supported by the GRK 2516 graduate school.

Jul. 2023 - Thanks to Bachir Messikh and Jennifer Quigley from our DAAD-ISAP partners at UMass Amherst for visiting and delivering excellent lectures at the Mainz-Amherst Mini-Symposium 2023, which were matched from our local team by Jessica Erlenbusch and Brandon Clarke. May 2023 - Many thanks to all of the eight Mainz MSc students for delivering superb lectures in a very lively mini-symposium covering the 2022/23 winter term research internships at our DAAD-ISAP partner labs at the University of Kyushu in Fukuoka (Japan).

Lehn. Mar. 2022 - Our RTG 2516 Workshop 2022 on 'Controlling Structure Formation in Soft Materials' is announced and will be held in Mainz from October 11th to 13th. This workshop aims to advance our understanding of structure formation and self-organization in soft materials from supramolecular to colloidal systems, focusing on the interplay of experiment and computational modelling.

Sept. 2021 - Our Collaborative Research Centre (CRC 1066) "Nanodimensional Polymer Therapeutics for Tumor Immunotherapy" participates at the virtual meeting of the GDCh Division of Macromolecular Chemistry: 101 Years of Macromolecular Chemistry, with video and poster presentations. Katharina Landfester and Pol Besenius will represent the CRC in the podium discussion on interdisciplinary DFG funded collaborative research centres and priority programs.

Jul. 2020 - Maren is admitted to the Max Planck Graduate Center PhD Program.

Jun. 2020 - After the University of Mainz decided to transition into an emergency operation mode at the end of March, the Department of Chemistry was quick to react in implementing digital teaching and learning platforms. From April 20th almost all the teaching activities were delivered in digital formats, and as of June 3rd we were able to re-open our teaching labs for undergraduate students, implementing additional precautionary safety measures. An interview with Nuri Blachnik from our Department of Chemistry was recently published in the JGU magazine (link).

May 2020 - Interview with Pol is published in Synform as part of their Editorial Board Focus series (link).

Apr. 2020 - The organic colloquia series for the summer term 2020 has to be cancelled (link). On 26th May we host a virtual institute seminar with lectures by three local PhD students from the Opatz, Nubbemeyer and Frey research groups.

Apr. 2017 - Hien Le wins the first prize in the federal competition 'Jugend forscht' in Ludwigshafen for her project on Polymer Origami: Synthesis of Multi-Responsive and Self-Folding Hydrogel Systems (link to the BASF news release). Hien will present her work at the national competition in Erlangen in May. The German television channel SWR produced a short documentary which will be aired on May 24th.
